Mani Parvat

As per the Ramayana, Lord Hanuman uprooted a whole mountain containing the Sanjeevani Booti to cure Lord Lakshman, who got wounded by Meghnath. While carrying the whole Parbat or mountain in his palm, a little part of it fell on the ground, which is now called Mani Parbat in Ayodhya.

Many shrines can be found around or on top of the Mani Parvat. It is thought that Lord Buddha spent six years in Ayodhya, where he preached the Law of Dharma from Mani Parbat. The hillside also has a Buddhist monastery and a stupa constructed by Emperor Ashoka. From the summit of the hillock, one can witness an amazing view of Ayodhya and its surroundings. At the foothills of Mani Parbat, you can find an Islamic graveyard.
